About the Website

September 27th, 2008

If you are new to FASG or did not go through the registration process last year, you will want to read this.   Quite a few things have changed around here from the website prior to 2008-2009. To give a quick overview of all the new changes is lead developer for the new site, Andrew Altamirano.

First off, all schools are going to have to re-register for an account with FASG. The good news is that this will only happen once per school, as each school can have multiple "sub-accounts" for teachers. If your school has more than one German teacher participating in FASG, then have one teacher create a master account followed by sub-accounts once they log in.

As i have already mentioned, we've tried to make registration much more streamlined with the new system in place. Much of the paperwork involved with registration has been converted into online forms, eliminating hassle. Registration I will literally take less than 60 seconds once logged in. When completing Registration II which includes adding e-mail addresses for each of your attending students, accounts will automatically be created for students based on their e-mail address, allowing them to complete their portion of registration (selecting events, t-shirt size, etc.) online and independent of their teacher, allowing them to make changes up until the Registration II deadline.

Teachers and school administrators will have more flexibility in monitoring their accounts with FASG, with useful features such as a full account balance monitor and school statistics. Many more aspects of FASG registration are now available online, such as registering for school events like Wettbewerb and Stammtisch, as well as signing up students for optional events (including Spelling Bee and the all-new Conjunction Bee events).

The launch of the new FASG website definitely does not signal the end of its development. We will continue to expand the site to make it even friendlier to use with easy-to-access information and resources. We would also love to hear your feedback, so please let us know what we're doing right and what needs to be improved. It has been a pleasure being involved with this project, and I hope everyone enjoys the new site!
